Important take aways:
  1. “No, it’s not fair at all because just because the one person made the mistake doesn’t mean that everyone that wears a uniform does the same thing. Is like not all spanish/ black people are criminals”. (Ysabel, page 2).
This quote is important because here officer Ysabel is making clear that to him it’s absolutely not fair that all vcops get blame for the mistake of one or two cop. To him is not fair that everything gets blames on all cops because like he said not all spanish/ black people are criminal so to him not all cops are bad.  Not all cops commit the same mistake. This is important because it’s showing people that cops care about their reputation, they don’t like to get the blame for the mistake of a person.

  1. “ When you work in a neighborhood that has primarily black and hispanic people you are not going to stop an Asian guy there, you’re not going to stop a white person there if that’s not what’s there. That’s not the demography of the neighborhood. When you patrol in a neighborhood that the majority of people are black and hispanic unfortunately those are who you are going to stop. Because also static has shown that people who committed a crime are ethnic background”. (Ysabel, page 2-3).
This quote is important because with this quote he is making in it clear that it’s not about wanting to arrest just black people. He is explaining that if you patrol in an area where they are mostly black and hispanic people then those are the one’s that are going to mostly going to be stop. Is about the area that you patrol it’s not necessarily about just stopping black people.
  1. “Race is just the way people identify a group as or the way that person identifies themselves. But when am at work me personality race has nothing to do with the law. You can be a Harvard graduate and CEO of a company and if you rape somebody you are a rapist period”. (Ysabel, page 3-4).
This quote is important officer Jhovanny is saying what race is to him, he is giving his perspective on race and how he views it. But he also talks about how race has nothing to do with the law so therefore he does not include race with his job.
  1. “ People either love police or hate them. There is no in between. Some people are like they don’t bother us we don’t bother them. There's so many things that the police department does to improve the relationship with the community but it doesn’t change those who don’t like/trust the police officers”. (Ysabel, page 5).
This quote is important because this was his overall point of view on the relationship between the society and police officer. To him overall people either love police officer or hate them. H belive that you can not change a person veiw on police officer because they grow up with the feeling of not liking nor trusting police officer.
