In the United States especially in New York city police officers have been getting a lot of negative attention because many in the society believe that they are racist because of the recent accident that have happen. Police officers are very important for the society because they are the one’s who are suppose to protect the society and catch those who break the law. For me it was very difficult to hear all the negative comments because my uncle is a police officer. It was difficult because I know that my uncle is a good person and that fact that all cops are being portrait as a racist it’s very difficult. For all cops to get blame for the problem that one cop cause it’s not fair because not all cops are the same. We the society are always hearing what the community thinks but we never get to hear from the other side. With this interview I wanted to be able to get the perspective of a police officer about all the negative attention that cops are getting and about his perspective on race. The purpose of my interview  was to get to know more about a police officer job and how the person experiences have or have not shape the person perspective on race. I wanted to get an overall view on how a cop doesn’t let what is happening affect it’s job. The reason I pick a police officer to do my interview with was because my topic focuses on how the society view police officers as racist so I wanted to hear what a police officer thinks about all those negative comments. The person that I interview is my uncle Officer Jhovanny Ysabel, he has been an officer for 8 years. He become a police officer because it was also his dream. He was born in the United States but both of his parents of Dominican. He currently patrols in a New York housing authority area in the Bronx, where the majority of the people are Black and Hispanic and is a low income area. He is married to a high school math teacher and together they have one son. When we started the interview we started talking about how long he's been a cop for and why he decided to become one. As the interview continue we started to get into the topics of race and about if race has influenced in his job. For him race has nothing to do with his job, if you break the law you simply break the law. We also talked about the current issues that happen such as the Eric Garner situation. Overall from this interview my purpose was completed because with this interview I got to understand more the perspective of a police officers on the currents issues that happen. I got to hear from an actual police officer and he was able to be be honest with me and answer me all the questions sincerely. My conclusion is that for this particular police officer race has nothing to do with his job because he doesn’t involved race. With my research and the interview I was able to get a lot of answer about all the controversial that police officer have been getting. With the research I was able to understand why more the society have the opinion that police officer are racial profiling and with the interview I was able to get answers from a police officer and get his views on certain things. The connection between the interview and my research is that they are both discussing big issues, they are connecting back to the same topic. Another connection between the interview and the research that I did is that both discuss the problem with the society not having trust in the police officers because of what they believe, that they are to be seen as racist. Further questions that I still have about my topic is about whether the society doing all the march would make thing better and I would also like to know if is really the right for politicians get involved in those actions. I would also like to research more about what are problems are causing this huge conflict between the society and the police officer. I think that they are more issues other than just racial profiling and police use of excessive force. This topic is very important for this community because police officer are the one’s that look out for us and to me it’s important to have stable relationships within the community.
